Student Council At My School As Part Of Their Logistics Team

Additional Activities: Student Council: In 2013-2014, I became involved with the Student Council at my school as part of their logistics team. This experience was crucial to my leadership journey because I gained a deeper understanding of working with the school administration by having the experience of organizing the biggest school events of the year. With the Student Council, I had the chance to organize BOSSILICIOUS, our back to school barbeque. My role involved contributing ideas that would appeal to the student body, drawing the floor plan, communicating with various food retailers to ensure that we get reasonable food prices, managing the needs of the various booths, communicating with clubs and councils who were responsible for the booths, spearheading one of the booths, supporting the DJ and training the volunteers who worked alongside me in my booth. This was a challenging experience because on the day of the event, there was rainfall, forcing us to move the entire event to our cafeteria. Under tremendous pressure, we were able to make changes to various dimensions of our event such as reducing the number of sports and including more board games, transferring equipment to the cafeteria and postponing music rehearsal that was scheduled at the cafeteria. Hence, it was a positive experience from which I learned to excel in l eadership under pressure, and to take up a strong and administrative role in times of stress.
